Mr. A. E. Bolton has been appointed technical director of Aeroplane and Motor Aluminium Castings, Ltd., one of the Associated Engineering, Ltd., group of companies.

The new general manager of Cumberland Motor Services, Ltd., of Whitehaven, West Cumberland, is Mr. W. T. Skinner, present chief engineer of the Eastern' National Omnibus Company, who takes up his new post at the beginning of next year.

Mr. T. W. It Gailey has been appointed chairman of the Thames Valley .Traction Co., Ltd., and its associates in place of Mr. Maurice Holmes who will remain on the boards.

Mr. W. T. Skinner, at present chief engineer of Eastern National Omnibus Co., Ltd., has been appointed general manager of Cumberland Motor Services, Ltd., with effect from January 1, 1963.

H. E. Chamberlain has been nominated by colleagues of Oldham Watch Committee for the panel from which the Minister of Transport chooses Traffic and Deputy Traffic Commissioners. He is the Watch Committee chairman.

Air Marshal Sir Lawrence Darvall has become a director of the Slip Products and Engineering Co., Ltd„ with effect from October 3. Sir Lawrence will help in developing further Slip's expanding activity in the field of aircraft manufacture.

Obituary

WEregret to record the death of Mr George Cardwell. Mr. Cardwell, of Woodhouse, Chearn, Surrey, started his career at Loughborough (Leics.) with Brush Electrical Engineering Co., Ltd., and was for many years engaged in road passenger transport, being appointed a director of Thomas Tilling, Ltd., in 1932, and later being appointed chairman of associated companies. In .1948 he was appointed a member of the Road Transport Executive, and from 1949 to 1952 he was 'chairman of the Road Passenger Executive.
