Auto-Carriers, Ltd., Hercules Road, WestminSter Bridge Road, London, $,E. 1.

THE Auto-Carrier parcelcer first made its appearance at. the fifth Cycle and Motorcycle Show, Which was held at Olympia in November of lest year. The /Bahl features of its design have been adhered to. This little machine, which is designed for loads up to 3 owt., is really a four-Wheeler -with a single-cylinder h.p. air-cooled engine disposed between twin rear wheels. An E.I.C. magneto is fitted, and this has fixed point. ignition, and carburation is eflected by an Amer accessory. Visitors to the stand will notice that on this vehicle braking has received special attention, independent internal-expanding brakes of large diameter being fitted to each rear wheel. The brakes on the rear wheels are operated by depressing the toe on either of the foot rests, which afe of ample proportions. When the vehicle is. on a steep gradient and it ibecomee necessary to hold it. in its position, a

short lever can be moved forward to keep the brake pedal depressed One of the most interesting features of the Auto-Carrier Junior pareelcar, for

that is the name by which it is known, is the rack and 'pinion steering. The pinion' at the .hottom of the steering column engages with a -segmental rack on a .turntable, which runs on a series of six rakes, end in 'pivoted above the centre of the body. When the wheels

are thrown over to their fullest. extent, ample lock is provided.

On the steering column is mounted a throttle lever control, and also a lever to operate the exhaust valve lifter. The saddle is of the usual motorcycle patrt, lan, .and can be moved backwards and forr, wards on .the tabular frame member, which rune from the front end to the rear end of the vehicle, whilst it can else be adjusted as regards height. An unusual refinement, which can be fully alai preciated by commercial tradesmen, en a trade vehicle of this description, is the detachable wheels; .five of which are supplied, fitted by 24 in. by 4 iii. Avon -tyres. The spare Nvlieel is conveniently placed between the steeringcolumn and the rear end of the body.

Visitors will notice that in order to help the engine on steep gradients pedal. assistance is provided. The body fitted on the vehicle exhibited is a panel beaters box, which opens at the front. The final drive is by worm gear, and a two-speed epicyclic gear is fitted.

The other exhibits are a fine 12 h..p. A.-C., fitted with a box van body, and one of the well-known Auto-Carrier and three-wheeled parcelcar.
