• Automotive component manufacturer Rubery OwenRockwell has appointed Robin Nunley as group sales and marketing director. He will be based at the company's plant in Llay.

• BUS AND COACH COUNCIL DALTON

The Bus and Coach Council's new president is Irwin Dalton, executive vice chairman and chief executive of operations at the National Bus Company.

Dalton, 54, has worked as a bus operator for 25 years, and is a former general manager of Ribble Motor Services. He joined the NBC board in 1981 and was awarded the CBE in the birthday honours list last year.

"One of my key tasks," says Dalton, "will be to work for a period of stability within the existing legislative framework. The industry's message to the Government is — no more legislation please."

• CHARTERED INSTITUTE OF TRANSPORT BECKENHAM

The Chartered Institute of Transport is naming an award in one of its professional exams after a former director. The Beckenham prize of 2100 in transport policy and planning honours Arthur Beckenham, who was the Institute's director of education and .

training from 1970 until illness forced early retirement in 1982.

• PANASONIC FLETCHER/VV1LSON/ DIXON

Electronics firm Panasonic has reshuffled its management. Bill Fletcher moves from incar entertainment to communications department manager, handling cellular radio and pagers. Steve Wilson takes over in-car entertainment as divisional director. John Dixon is promoted to manager of electronic musical instrument division. He was previously its sales manager.

• MANCHESTER PTE HARRIS Ian Harris starts as planning executive for the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive at the end of the month. Harris, 40, was director of a transport authority in Singapore before coming to Manchester.

• EVANS HALSFIAW JONES

Evans Halshaw Commercials of Newport, an Iveco Ford dealer, has appointed Eric Jones as truck operations manager. Jones, an accountant, has worked in the motor industry since 1967. He has been employed by Control Cost Motoring, Bristol Street Motors, Welsh of Bristol and UBM Avonmouth.

• FREIGHTLINER ZEITLIN/ROBERTS

Graham Zeitlin and Harry Roberts will be handling marketing on Freightliner's contract for the Channel Tunnel. Zeitlin is currently the company's resources and development manager. Roberts has worked for Freightliner for a year, and was previously a consultant for Transmark, part of British Rail.

• PERKINS THOMAS

John Thomas, has taken over as director and general manager of Perkins Engines (Shrewsbury).

Thomas, 48, joins Perkins from the Metal Closures Group, where he was chief executive of its Special Products Division at St Albans. He previously held a number of senior production and general management roles.

• BOGE BANKS/CONROY/ SEARLY/BRANNIGAN/ THORNTON/ BLINKHORN/CLARK/ JOPLING

Boge, which makes shock absorbers and other vehicle fittings, has made a series of promotions. Gerry Banks becomes marketing manager. Peter Conroy is new national accounts manager. Jeremy Searly is appointed field sales manager. Bob Brannigan moves to become regional account manager for Scotland, Borders and Northern Ireland. Ian Thornton, an account executive for the south east, is now product manager for a steering parts programme. Frank Blinkhorn takes charge of a van delivery service. Fred Clark, who has worked for Boge for five years, becomes product manager for coil springs. He will also cover shock absorbers sales for the North of England. Nigel Jopling's appointment as managing director of Boge is confirmed.
