IT WAS reported last week in the Financial Times that Mitsubishi Motors Corporation plans to supply Mercedes-Benz Espana, the Spanish commercial vehicle manufacturing subsidiary of Daimler-Benz, with two-litre petrol engines.
According to the report a plan exists for Mitsubishi to supply Mercedes with some 6,000 engines a year, commencing next year.
Mercedes-Benz (UK) is not aware of this plan and by the time CM went to press no comment had been received from Daimler-Benz head office in Stuttgart. A Mitsubishi spokesman in Rotterdam said the matter was "confidential" but that more information might be available later this month.
