Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by Bryan Jarvis • ERF has bought the design rights and tooling of Britannia Truck's distinctive centre-steer cab; it plans to incorporate it into a new range of waste collection vehicles.

The latest Sandbachbuilt refuse collector, yet to be named, should help to reinforce ERF's position in the municipal sector. It will be sold through its truck dealer franchise network, one of which is Jack Allen (Sales & Service).

ERF will offer tapered day and crew-cabs on 4x2, 6x2 and 6x4 models; one might make its debut at the Institute of Waste Management exhibition at Torbay in June.

Britannia Truck's centresteer cab was originally adopted by Seddon Atkinson for its Leader range; initially on day and crewcabbed 4x2 and 6x4s with other options to follow.

According to Jack Allen group chairman John Allen, Leader models were expected to grow in line with SA's own Pacer range. But the original contract, says Seddon, was for 60 such vehicles and this is now drawing to a close.

Seddon Atkinson, meanwhile, is believed to be designing a singlestep, low-entry refuse truck cab at its Chorley factory: one that can be adapted for both

UK and Continental use by the entire Iveco group.

Examples are not likely to be ready in time for the IWM show but prototypes could appear this year.

Jack Allen, in addition to holding an ERF municipal franchise, will continue to offer its products on the Seddon Atkinson chassis and will give full sales and service support.

ERF has created a European-based organisation called ERF Europe to handle foreign truck sales, leasing and contract maintenance services.

Led by Fernando Criado, it replaces ERF's previous country-by-country structure and will be linked to the company's Sandbach and Nantwich operations.

In the UK David Gray becomes European sales manager; he will handle business with UK operators working primarily on the Continent, and with Continental hauliers running mainly in the UK.
