KEITH DYER has been promoted to general manager of UK and Channel Islands operations of Avis, the lorry and car rental company.

He was previously UK operations manager, and will be based at Avis headquarters in Hayes, Middlesex.

Mr Dyer joined Avis in 1969 as a trainee manager. He rose through the ranks to become UK operations manager in 1979.

Roger Anderson succeeds Mr Dyer. He moves to this position from district manager of Scotland and Northern Ireland. He is also now based at Hayes.

Mr Anderson joined Avis in 1971.
