Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE proposed route for the seven-mile Carlisle by-pass section of the Birmingham-Carlisle motorway (Mb) has been published as a draft scheme by the Minister of Transport. This northern extension of M6 is a further step towards the completion of a continuous 304-mile motorway between London and Carlisle.

The proposed line of the by-pass route branches north from the Ab trunk road at the Golden Fleece, just south of the village of Carleton, passes to the east of Carlisle and then sWings north-west to finish on the A7 trunk road at Greymoorhill, just north of Kingstown. At this point the motorway will also be connected to the Carlisle-Glasgow .trunk road (A74), which will be realigned.
