• Bedwas has worked with Scotland Yard to produce the Protean modular public order vehicle, which can be based on any suitable panel van in the 2.5-4.5 tonne range.
It is designed to meet police requirements for an 11-man carrier, prison van, dog handler vehicle or communication unit.
The body will be equipped to provide extra protection with heavy-duty polycarbonate glazing, strengthened inner panelling, bulkheads and a roof support cage. At the front there are lights and radiator guards.
Its inner versatility is achieved by using special tracking on the floor and roof as well as wall-mounted rails.
These will accommodate various seating units, security partitions, desk modules, dog cages, and other units.
Protean is an extension of the Challenger range of prision vans for 7.5 tonnes chassis.
