Crew

buses from Ford

• Ford today introduces two Crewbus models into its Transit medium commercial range. Designed for sitework operation and the carriage of both men and equipment, the new factory-built Transit Crewbus is available in 13 seat and 17-seat form and is additional to the existing 9-, 12and 15-seat luxury bus models.

The two new Crewbuses are based on the 22cwt short wheel-base and 30cwt longwheelbase Transit Kombi models and are fitted with longitudinal wooden-slatted seats each side of the body. These slatted seats, with metal frames and front padded arm rests, accommodate 10 people in the short-wheelbase model and 14 in the long-wheelbase version. Additionally, cabs are equipped with dual, upholstered passenger seats and single multi-adjustable drivers' seats.

Both models are fitted with fully-trimmed double rear doors and a centrally mounted auxiliary rear step. There is a choice of hinged or sliding cab doors. The roof interior is fully lined in washable plastics. Ribbed

rubber floor mats for the rear compartment and detachable, washable. cushions and squabs for the slatted seats are available as optional equipment.

Standard power unit in the 13-seat Crewbus is the Ford V4 1.7-litre 73 bhp petrol engine and the 17-seat model is powered by the 2-litre 85..5 bhp V4 engine. Both are available with the option of the 107 cu.in. Perkins diesel engine, but with this option the seating capacity of the long-wheelbase model is reduced to 16 seats by the fitment of a single instead of dual passenger seat in the cab.

With the exception of side loading doors, the full range of Transit body and chassis options is available with the Crewbus models, although minimum tyre equipment is specified as 195-14 radials on 13-seater and 165-14 radials on 17-seater.

Basic retail prices of the new Crewbuses, including delivery, are: 13-seat petrol, £751; 13-seat disel, £876; 17-seat petrol, £1,006; 16-seat diesel, £1,106 (available on special release only).
