TWO important repeat orders for Daimler Fleetline double-deckers have been placed by member companies of the Scottish Bus Group, The Western SMT Co. Ltd. has ordered another 42 of this model, bringing the total in service or on order to 114. The second repeat order is from Walter Alexander (Midland) Ltd., which has followed its initial order for 20 Fleetlines with one for 25.

Other important orders for Fleetlines include a repeat order from Nottingham City Transport for 35 double-deckers, bringing the total to 114, whilst the West Riding Automobile Co. Ltd., has ordered 30 Fleetline double-deckers (its first) following the recent delivery of 10 Daimler Roadliner single-deckers. Another operator to order single-decker versions of the Fleetline is the Huddersfield Joint Omnibus Committee, which is to take two 33 ft. buses of this type. Bury, Halifax and Grimsby/Cleethorpes have already ordered buses of this type.

Busmen's claim

AT a meeting of the National Council for the Omnibus Industry on June 24 last, the bus company employers replied to the unions' case for another pay increase. They explained why they thought it a weak case but agreed with the unions, in accordance with the usual procedure, to discuss the claim further in committee—in the light of the report of the Prices and Incomes Board.
