Public service vehicle operators should not overlook the fact that the Minister of Transport has allowed the regulation governing gangway width to be excluded, so far as it concerns vehicles registered under the Roads Act, 1920, on or before January 1st, 1932.
The regulation requires that every gangway shall be not less than 12 ins. wide up to a height of 2 ft. 6 ins. from the floor level, and not less than 14 ins. wide above that height. This is regulation No. 32 of the Public Service Vehicles (Conditions of Fitness) Provisional Regulations, dated March 13th, 1931, and the modification is made by the Amendment Regulation dated February 17th, 1932.
