at the Scottish Motor Show next month is a Leopard 36-ft. coach chassis with a new form of leaf-air sus pension at both axles, and a new mediumduty goods chassis. Details of the latter must remain secret until November 8 (the opening day of the Show), but it is known that it is one of a six-model range with special emphasis on driver comfort which will be introduced early next year.

The Leopard's suspension system consists of a single leaf spring at each side of each axle, with two double-convolution air bellows mounted on a suspension beam beneath each spring. The leaf spring provides positive axle location and assists the bsllows to absorb driving and braking torques. The suspensions at front and rear axles are similar, but there are three levelling valves at the front and only one at the rear, the central location of one of the front valves and the rear valve ensuring that the bellows pressures are not changed under roll conditions.

Isolator valves prevent air from flowing between the bellows of each suspension assembly when wind-up tends to take place, whilst the rear bellows at each axle contain rubber buffers to further resist wind-up.

The air-sprung chassis to be displayed will be a PSU3.3R model with a wheelbase of 18 ft. 6 in., 130-b.h.p. horizontal engine, four-speed synchromesh gearbox and spiral-bevel driving axle. In addition to the new goods model, a Badger 'tractive unit will be exhibited, this being one of 31 ordered by Russell of Bathgate Ltd.
