David N. Marsh, 42, has been appointed operations director of Humber McVeigh Transport Ltd. He has been with the company since 1957 and is chairman of the Grimsby sub-area of the Road Haulage Association. Keith J. David R. He became head of ICI's central distribution department upon its formation in 1965 and moved to London. In addition to his membership of the Institute, Mr Hunter is chairman of the Europe transport panel of the CBI. He is also on the board for the Centre for Physical Distribution Management.

Norman Mellors has been appointed director and manager of Cravens Homalloy (Sheffield) Ltd; Mr Mellors is also a director of Cravens Industries Sales Ltd, Taskers Trailers Ltd, and Cravens Homalloy (Woodville) Ltd.

R. D. Oubridge has been appoihted commercial director of GKN Farr Filtration Ltd in succession to D. W. Kelly who becomes head of G KN's prices unit which has been set up to co-ordinate GKN's negotiations with the Prices Commission. Mr Oubridge in 1961 became a director of his family's transport and garage business. When this was disposed of in 1968 he joined the GKN subsidiary Mills Scaffold Co Ltd as sales. development manager, becoming its general sales manager in 1969.

J. P. Wells (Wells and Son Ltd, London) has been re-elected chairman of the national council of the Road Haulage Accociation. K. E. Hatcher (Hatcher Bros Ltd, London) and J. Male (Male and Sons Ltd, Pensnett) are vice-chairmen. The express carriers' group

He was previously the company's manager in the north-western district and started his career as an engineering apprentice with Rolls-Royce Ltd. He is succeeded at the north-western district by Brian Dean, 45, who was previously the north-eastern district manager and joined Transfleet in October 1972 from Hertz International with whom. he was employed in Switzerland. He had been Hertz manager in Liverpool in 1965.

Schutte (director of Transport, Pretoria) is vice-president. The 20 members of the Association represent 17 municipalities and companies operating more than 3000 buses.

N. E. Flanagan J. R. Burnham has been promoted chief traffic manager of Freightliners Ltd. He has previously been manager of the company's depot in the North East and also the South East. He will be responsible for co-ordinating the commercial and operational functions of the company.
