NORTHERN AREA Dent's Transport (Spennymoor), Ltd., The Buildings, Tudhoe Colliery, have transferred two lorries, one (4 tons 19 cwt.) to Messrs. J. W. and M. Armstrong, 63 Kirkley Drive, Ponteland, Newcastle upon Tyne, and the other (5 tons) to Wm. Brunskill and Son (Transport), Ltd., Central Garage, George Street, Bishop Auckland.

' NORTH-WEST H. B. Hitchen, Ltd., St. Aubins, Rivington Road, Chorley, have taken over three lorries (9 tons) from Mr. H. B. Hitchen, of the same address.

Wilde and Bennett. Ltd., 75 Station Road, Hadfield, Manchester, have bought and transferred more ex-B.R.S. vehicles. One (3 tons) taken over from Mr. J. V. Dutton, Ball Farm, Hankelow, near Crewe. has been re-assigned to Mr. E. R. Webster, Bryn Coch Cottages, Northop Road, Flint; and one (31 tons) from Mr. E. Sanderson, Bearsden, to Mere Transport Co., 14 Mere Drive, Didsbury.

Mr. A. C. Harrison, Glazebrook, has sold a lorry. (41 tons) to Wilde and Bennett. Ltd.

One (41 tons) of two lorries acquired by Mr. -K. Miller, 5 Oakmere Avenue. Withnell. Chorley, from Holden and Davies, Ltd., Albion Garage, Boston Road, Blackburn, has been re-sold to Messrs. J. Hague and Sons. Coe Lane, Tarleton, near Preston. The other, which has been retained, has an unladen weight of 6 tons.

Cusick (Oldham), Ltd„ Thornton Street North, Manchester, 9. have transferred two lorries (64 tons) to Regent's Bridge Storage and Shipping Co., Ltd., 138 Water Street, Manchester, 1 and an articulated outfit (4+ tons) to Swains Transport, Ltd., 372 Washway Road, Sale.

Woodcocks Transport (Chorley). Ltd., Park Road Garage, Heskin, near Charley, have taken over an articulated outfit (6+ tons) from Tattersall s Haulage, Ltd., Manchester. 14, and have transferred a lorry (3 tons) to S. Cartwright (Carriers), Ltd., Cowhill Lane, Ashton-under-Lyne, The North Western Licensing Authority has also authorized the transfer of two lorries (61 tons) to Mr. J. Cooper's Road Services, 78 Arnold Road, Shirley, near Birmingham; one (3 tons) to Messrs. Larches Transport, 48 Lincoln Road, Acock's Green, Birmingham, 27; and one (3 tons) to Mr. J. C. Murray, Llanishen, Cardiff. Mr. N. Ferns, 21Shoobridge Street, Leek, has taken over a lorry (3 tons) from Longton Transport, Ltd., King Street, Longton ; and Mr. J. M. Watkins, Triley Bridge, Abergavenny. one (5 tons) based at Handsworth, from Western Transport, Ltd., 75 Feeder Road, Bristol, 2.

EAST MIDLANDS Two lorries taken over by Wilde and Bennett, Ltd., 75 Station Road, Hadfield, Manchester, from W. H. Short (Contractors), Ltd., Newthorne Common, Newthorpe, have now been transferred as

Direct purchasers are Mr. G. S. Tully, Bridford, near Exeter (a lorry-2 tons 9 cwt.); Mr. M. Regan, 43 Settle Street, London, E.1 (one-4 tons 8 cwt.); Mr. C. R. T. Swatton, Broughton Gifford, Melksham (six—I94 tons); and G. Read (Transport), Ltd.,-Cuckoo Patch, Mitcheldean (one--31 tons).

Mr. E. Tucker, 81 Hamilton Road, Taunton, has taken over a further two lorries and a container (8 tons 12 cwt.) from Mrs. J. Mees, 54 Market Street, Newton-lc-Willows.

Western Transport, Ltd., Feeder Road, Bristol, have transferred a lorry (41 tons) to Mr. W. G. Troughton, New Park Farm, Falfield; and Mr. J. R. Kidd, Easy Road, Arid, one (2 tons) to Mr. P. N. Browne, South Street, Bridport.

LONDON AND HOME COUNTIES

A further substantial purchase has been made by Hay's Wharf, Ltd., St. Olaf House, Tooley Street, London. S.E.1. It comprised 12 lorries (33 tons 18 cwt.) and a trailer.

Another direct purchase is that of three lorries (8 tons 19 cwt.) made by Mr. L. E. East, 11 Oakwood Road, London, S.W.20.
