Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FOLLOWING the successful operation of a number of A.E.C. vehicles in Athens since 1925, when 50 singledeckers were first placed into service, a further order for 60 vehicles has recently been placed by the Athens Electric Transport Co.

Of these, six were dispatched last week. To meet the specific operating conditions overseas, many special features have been incorporated in both the 'chassis and bodywork, the main chassis modification being an extension of the wheelbase of the Regal model from 17 ft. 6 ins. to 19 ft. This provides for the fitting of a body to accommodate 33 passengers seated and, at peak periods, an additional 37 standing.

Such an overload called for a robust A.E.C. six-cylindered oil engine, with a bore and stroke of 103 mm. by 142 mm. The transmission is through a Fluid Flywheel and epicyclic gearbox. Among the special engine fitments are a large oil-bath cleaner, to counter the effects of excessive dust, and an 8-in.diameter 24-volt dynamo, to meet the demands for extra lighting occasioned by • extended 'night work. Lighting is

by 13 rectangular, enclosed fittings, each provided with two 24-volt bulbs.

Metropolitan Gammen Weymann Motor Bodies, Ltd., is responsible for the bodies, which are constructed of metal throughout.

Maximum accessibility to the engine is provided for by the introduction of a panel at the front of the cab, supplementing a door on the left-band side. Ventilation of the engine compartment is assured by the use of louvres.

Protection against outside heat is by the use of a double roof, between the front and rear canopies, the space between them being packed with Alfol.
