Dennis Appliances: The Greater London Council Fire Brigade has ordered 31 Dennis F106 diesel-et-Tined' fire appliances.

Chrysler-Cummins: The new ChryslerCummins plant which has been built for the manufacture of VAL six-cylinder and VALE eight-cylinder diesel engines is to be opened at Darlington on July 13 by Mr. Douglas Jay, President of the Board of Trade. A Production rate of 17 engines a day is planned by the end of July.

Scottish Triplex: "A sign of faith in the future of the Scottish motor industry ", was how Mr. Tom Fraser, the Minister of Transport, described the new Larkhalt. Lanarks, factory of the Triplex Safety Glass Co. Ltd. which he opened on Friday. Paul Instruction : Mr. Goymer, service manager, is now receiving applications for vacancies at Dennis Bros. summer-period school of instruction on Paxit refuse collectors at the Guildford works.

Scunthorpe Service : A separate commercial vehicle section with a reinforced servo-dock capable of dealing with the heaviest road vehicles is included in a new servicing centre opened by Lincolnshire Motor Co. at Brigg Road, Scunthorpe, Lincs. It has Castro! lubrication at two levels by pendant hoses.

Royal Highland Show : At the Royal Highland Show which takes place at Ingliston, Edinburgh. during the period June 22 to June 28, BMC will be showing two shortwheelbase and two long-wheelbase Austin Gipsies. They will be hard-top, soft-top, petroland diesel-engined versions, and there will be a pick-up type fitted with a petrol engine.

New Essex Depot : W. J. Boyes and Son Ltd. have acquired premises at Red Lion Hill, Orsett, Grays, Essex (tel: Stanford-leHope 3005) for a new depot concerned primarily with the sale, maintenance and repair of ERF and Dodge vehicles. The depot lies on AD and it is intended to offer 24-hour service and recovery facilities.

Booker: The telephone number of Booker Motor Bodies Ltd.. Newton Abbot, has been changed to Newton Abbot 375718.

Trading Title Changed : Telma electric retarders, which supplement conventional braking systems on commercial vehicles and were introduced into the U.K. in 19i2 by Trico-Folberth Ltd., are now being marketed by Trico Developments Co. Ltd. Although there has been a change of trading title the retarders will still be handled by the same personnel from the same premises at Brentford, Middx.

M6 in Lanes and Westmorland: To meet local objections the Minister of Transport is to amend part of the proposed route of the 15-mile section of the M6 BirminghamCarlisle motorway between a point on the Lancaster by-pass east of Carnforth, Lanes, and a point west of Killington Reservoir, Westmorland. Over a length of about five miles the Minister now proposes to move the alignment on to higher ground farther east. The new motorway will leave the Lancaster by-pass at Over Kellet, just north of the B6354 road to Kirkby Lonsdale and will connect with the agreed route at a point west of Hillington Reservoir.

Leyland Power for Snowploughs: An order for 660 Leyland 165 h.p. diesel engines to power snowploughs has been received by Leyland Motors Ltd., from the Finnish State Highways authority. Two Finnish companies will build the vehicles, which wilt be used as normal haulage vehicles during the short summer.
