THE first Scammell Townsman in general service, one of ty,'o ordered. is being operated by E. H. Steele Ltd. of Bolton . who have a Scammell artic Beet distributing provisions to schools, shops and canteens in the Bolton area. As seen here, it is run with a Scammell box va n semi-trailer.
At the same time that the Steele unit went into service the first municipal. Townsman was delivered. This is being used by Chesterfield Borough Council, mainly with waste paper collection semi-trailers.
