A HTERfigures. had been queried by the ris objectors, an application by Mr. W. Evans, Dolgelley (Merioneth), was last week ad jeurned for the second time by the North Western Deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. J. R. Lindsay. He said Mr. Evans' figures could not be sorted out if the court sat until midnight, and the case would have to wait until there had :been a breakdown.

Mr. Evans was seeking additional tonnage on B" licence. On his behalf, Mr.-J. Rogers said he was granted a B licence for a three-ton vehicle in 1948, and four years later a 30-cwt. Bedford was granted as a substittition. Mr. Evans was also a farmer and coal merchant, but he had sold the coal business together with the Bedford--now operated under C licence, As a replacement for this vehicle he had bought a 3-ton oiler with a new.container.

He was seeking general goods and livestock, 25 miles, and goods for Dolgelley Urban District Council and Merioneth County Council." Because the Bedford wastoo small arid did riot justify a container there had been little livestock haulage since 1952, Querying the figures, Mr. J. Edward Jones, for Mr. H. D. Evans, Dinas Mawddwy, pointed out that it was impossible to discover the amount of work done under the heading of general goods and livestock, which was the basis of the

objection. • Adjourning the application, Mr. Lindsay warned the applicant that his shortterm licence had expired and the vehicle was now being operated illegally. There would be no grant unless an immediate application were made for a renewal.
