ALD. FRED PLATT, chairman of Rawtenstall Transport Committee, has been elected chairman of Area "C" of the Municipal Passenger Transport Association.
SIR HENRY SPURRIER, chairman and managing director of Leyland Motors, Ltd., has been elected chairman of the British Transport Vehicle Manufacturers' Association, Miss M. I. LEES has been appointed chief Press officer for the Board of Trade in succession to MR. JAMES E. HOLROYD, who takes over the editorship of the Board of Trade Journal MR. C. H. PEARCE, field engineer for Leyland Motors, Ltd., is to assist and advise the Ceylon Transport Board in the inauguration of its new £900,000 fleet of Leyland and Albion buses.
MR. R. N. SAMPSON has been appointed general manager of Greenslades Tours, Ltd. Exeter, with MR. W. J. LANG as chid engineer and Ma. E. E. Hartnett as traffic manager. This follows the retirement from active management of MR. G. J. GREENSLADE and MR. W. J. GREENSLADE, who continue to serve on the 'board.
MR. H. J. GODDARD has been appointed London North district divisional manager for Pirelli, Ltd. Through other changes in the sales organization Ma. S. B. MINERS becomes divisional manager for London South, and MR. G. F. RyRNE Southampton district manager. MR. YORE H. SOWTER has retired from his position as commercial tyre sales manager.

MR. A. E. R. HOMEWOOD has been appointed a director of E. J. Baker and Co. (Dorking), Ltd.
MR. CECIL J. PALMER, managing director of J. Spurting, Ltd., has been appointed to the board of the Transport Development Group, Ltd.
MR. JOHN GRIFFITHS has been appointed to the board of J. Coryton, Ltd., Chelsea. Mr. Griffiths is chief engineer to the Engineering (Educational) Trust, Ltd.
MR: J. PRICE, sales manager of Pollards Bearings, Ltd., has undertaken a sales tour of the U.S.A. and Canada. He will visit the new factory of Canadian Pollard Bearings, Ltd., which is under construction at Oakville, °Mario.
MR. V. C. BEAUMONT, manager of the South Midland retail division of the Mobil Oil Co., Ltd., has completed 45 years with the company. On Monday he was guest of honour at a dinner, when his host was MR. F. P. BARRIBAL, a director.
Ma. G. E. A. TavLoit has been appointed South London commercialvehicle sales manager for the India Tyre and Rubber Co., Ltd. He was formerly South London district manager, and this position is now filled by MR. C. W. WARD, previously well known as the Manchester district manager.
MR. J. W. BRETT has been elected chairman of the new Kent and South Eastern Centre of the Institute of Traffic Administration. Other officers elected include Ma. C. POTTS (deputy chairman), MR. W. C. DALE (senior ACCchairman and council member), and MR. B. WALMSLEY (vice-chairman).
