M6 kills man tag
• A wheel-loss accident, which killed a car driver and injured his passenger on the M6 last week has highlighted the need to investigate the problem of truck wheel loss.
The accident happened near Birmingham, when a wheel lost from a lorry travelling in the opposite direction smashed through the roof of the victims' Ford Fiesta.
O Road Haulage Association Midlands district manager Bob Ward and David Cockburn, owner of Crossbow Trucking of Middlesex, are among readers who have added their sup port to Commercial Motor's wheel loss campaign.
Along with his donation, Cockburn suggests that thicker, stronger studs and bigger wheel nuts could reduce the problem.
