Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• As predicted exclusively by Commercial Motor, Leyland Daf is to overhaul its middleweight range of trucks with replacements set for the 2100 and 2500, and for the 2800 and 3100 which are not offered in the UK.

The changes, which will be highlighted at the Amsterdam show next month, involve increases in power, and modifications to the long-serving F220 cab to improve driver comfort and provide weight savings of 100kg on the rebadged tractors.

The 2100 will be replaced by the 2300 which is powered by the latest Daf 170kW (228hp) HT 168 8.25-litre turbocharged diesel which provides a 1.5% improvement in torque. The 2500 will be superceded by the 2700 ATi, powered by the reworked Daf HS 200 8.25-litre turbocharged and chargecooled engine. This boosts power output to 203kW (272hp) and maximum torque by 4%.

Tractor unit versions of the 2300 and 2700 ATi models will be fitted with the ZE 16S-109 Ecosplit synchromesh gearbox with a single H shift pattern like the 95 Series, while rigids will be offered with a nine or 16-speed box. Tractors will be offered in 4 x2 configuration, while there is a choice of 4 x2, 6 x 2, 6x4 and 8x4 rigids.

All models will be offered with Oafs ElectronicallyControlled Air Suspension (ECAS) and with anti-lock braking as optional extras.
