AN appeal by Mr. J. R. Matthews, a Three Bridges, Sussex, haulier, against a refusal by the Metropolitan Licensing Authority to allow additions to his B licence, was upheld by the Transport Tribunal in London on Wednesday.
Mr: Matthews had asked the Authority to vary his licence by the addition of two articulated vehicles, one with a semitrailer including a box container and one with a drop-frame semi-trailer.
After a three-day hearing the Authority had allowed him one vehicle with a dropframe semi-trailer.
The Tribunal was told that Mr. Matthews had now decided to amend the appeal, to ask only for an additional semi-trailer.
The president, Mr. G. D. Squibb, said he was satisfied that justice would be done if he allowed Mr. Matthews the
trailer with a box container. This woulc have the effect of restricting the trailer: to part-time operations.
AN appeal by Mr. C. G. Jenkinson haulage contractor of Homerton London, E.9, against the refusal of the Metropolitan deputy Licensing Authorit to allow him a licence was formally dismissed by the Tribunal on Wednesday
Mr, Jenkinson did not appear and ww not represented.
The president of the Tribunal, Mr G. D. Squibb, awarded costs to thc respondents—the British Transport Commission and Cubitt Town Transport Ltd
After hearing submissions, Mr. Squibt agreed that the appeal was " frivolous anc vexatious".
