10 help prospective purchasers of transport units from the British Transport Commission, the Road Haulage Disposal Board released, on Tuesday, provisional drafts of Lists Nos. 2 and 3. They contain 1,284 units, consisting of 7,332 vehicles and 291 trailers (including spares) of a total unladen tonnage of 21,493. Both schedules are liable to be amended.

The second schedule was not due to be published until December 28 and the third until some unspecified date towards the end of January. The Board believe, however, that purchasers will be greatly assisted by knowing well in advance what the two lists are likely to contain.

List No. 2 comprises 592 units made up of 3,067 vehicles and 108 trailers (10,384 tons). List No. 3 incorporates 692 units, including 4,265 vehicles and 183 trailers (11,109 tons). There is a large proportion of units of one or two vehicles and many include premises. The lists show which units contain specialized vehicles, such as articulated outfits.

The Board emphasized on Tuesday that before the official dates of publication (December 28 for List No. 2 and towards the end of January for List No. 3) no additional information could be given about units in the provisional lists. Catalogues and tender forms could not be supplied.

"Persons who are interested in particular units will," the Board added, "greatly help by not writing to the Board, the Commission or British Road Services offices for more information or for tender documents or for permission to inspect units until after the official publication dates of the two lists."

The locations of units are published on page 569 of this issue. The provisional lists may be inspected at area offices of the Road Haulage Association.
