Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• BRS Midlands has renewed its freight management contract with the Ford Motor Company in a deal worth £61/2 million over the next four years.

The hub of the ex-works parts distribution scheme for Ford will be BRS Midlands' new £0.5 million purpose-built "drive through" consolidation centre at the company's Birmingham branch.

A further E3/4 million has been spent by BRS in providing a new dedicated fleet of 30 Ford Cargo and Leyland Roadtrain tractive units, and on the renewal and refurbishment of the entire fleet of 160 trailers.

The vehicles will be involved in moving more than 25,000 tonnes of components a month from 320 Ford suppliers throughout the West Midlands to the 4,7382m Bir

mingham distribution centre for overnight delivery to Ford's 15 UK plants.

Ford's computerised tracking system — MITCOS — can monitor and control the movement of components from leaving the supplier to the moment of delivery.

Mike Brookes, Ford's direc tor of general services, says he is pleased to see this continuation of Ford's 30-year involvement with BRS Midlands.

"The company's construction of the new facility proves its commitment to never-ending improvement," he says.
