PREPARAT1ONS are being made for the servicing of all the Yorkshire ,West Riding Agricultural Executive Committee's 500 farm tractors to be carried out at the committee's machinery repair depot at Mytholmroyd, near Halifax. Much of the work on other agricultural machinery under the committee's control will also be concentrated at the depot. Expansion plans provide for doubling the number of depot employees to 130 and the starting of night-shift work.

C LICENCES FOR 64,000 VEHICLES GRANTED •

GRANTS involving 64,680 vehicles were made in the six months ended February 28, 1947, to applicants for C licences and Defence Permits. The Minister of Transport gave this information last week in a written answer to Mr. McLeary.

New applications in this period for C licences or Defence Perinits totalled 52,111, and, with applications for additional Defence Permits and extra vehicles uncle!' existing C licences, involved 65,123 vehicles. A total of 226 applications, involving 443 vehicles, that were outstanding on the above date, has since been sanctioned.

1. OF T. HAS 550 YORKSHIRE MEMBERS

RAEMBERSHIP of the Institute of IVITransport in Yorkshire has increased to approximately 550. This growth was indicated at the Yorkshire section's annual meeting in Leeds on April 10, when Major F. S. Eastwood, Yorkshire Licensing Authority, was elected to succeed Mr. W. Vane 'Worland (Leeds Corporation's passenger transport manager) as chairman of the section.

Sergeant has been re-elected chairman, with Mr. H. Gant, vice-chairman, Mr. G. Fenton, secretary, and Mr. F. Littlewood, representative to the area council.
