• Tyron (UK) has launched a safety wheel which is said to prevent a tyre coming off its rim following a high-speed puncture. The Tyron safety band will lit wheel rims between 13in and 24.5in: the band weighs 4kg and prices start at about £90 per rim.
Mercedes price
• In our "Price is Right?" feature last week, we quoted the UK price of the Mercedes-Benz 308D van as £18,860 (ex-VAT). The UK list price is in fact £16,680 (ex-VAT).
Plumbers' mates
• A batch of 35 Iveco Ford Cargo 75E14s and four 45.10 TurboDailys has been sold to Plumb Centre, the largest plumbers merchants in the UK. They will join the 600-strong fleet at branches around the country.
Factory lifter
• ERF has supplied its first E12.30 8x2 with a factory-fitted lift axle. The tanker will be used by Stillers Transport for Philips Petroleum distribution, based at Darlington.
