Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• York Group has bought the rest of Thermostar, which manufactures temperaturecontrolled bodywork, from Le Capitaine of France. Thermostar will now be able to start large volume production of truck-based bodywork — a move that was previously prohibited by Le Capitaine.

Thermostar's managing director Stan Ayres says: "Now we have the financial funding of the York Group 100% behind us we can accelerate new projects already on the drawing board. . we hope to launch a major new product development early next year."

York plans to launch the York Thermostar reefer into Europe, initially only in semitrailer form. European sales will be co-ordinated by York Trailer Europa, which is being relaunched for trailer sales, from its base at Dordrecht, in the Netherlands.

Last year, York built 140 Thermostar semi-trailers — the company plans to boost that to 200 this year. Rigids are being produced at the rate of 12 per month.

In April 1986 York Group acquired a 50% stake in Thermostar for 21.3 million. Thermostar, which is based in Harelawm, County Durham, has increased its workforce to 50 to boost production.

▪ Charthire Services has purchased its first Thermostarbodied rigid for use on contract hire with Puritan Maid, the London food distributor.
