BRF director Kenneth Canni claimed that with the exceptit of the 20 miles stretch of ti M23 conditions on the road ha, become totally unacceptab "for a road which not only lin London with Brighton and ti Channel Ports of Newhaven ar Shoreham but also serves wick Airport ...The jams, dela. and subsequent dangers will i evitably deter both tourism ar commercial traffic."
He urged industry, MPs ar local people to pressure Tran port Secretary Tom King into more ambitious programme road improvements along tl A23. At one time it was pr posed to extend the M23 to La don and build a new dual carri geway southwards from Bolne These plans have now, says tl BRF, been reduced to the much smaller schemes.
