• The Worshipful Company of Carmen has recently presented its annual ''Viva Award for Transport Improvement" to the Automotive Products Group for the design and development of the AP Mark I Mark II and Mark Ill automatic transmission systems for smalland medium-capacity motorcars.

The "Viva" shield, gold medal and citation—the fourth major automatic transmission. award made to the AP Group. in the past three years—were presented by the Master of the Worshipful Company to Mr. S. M. Parker, group deputy managing director, and Mr. F. E. Ellis, chief project designer.

NRDC backs projects

• The annual report of the National Research Development Corporation reveals that new projects being supported include a design study of an emergency ambulance by Ogle Research Ltd., the design of an anti-skid system for commercial vehicles by SelfEnergising Disc Brakes Ltd. and design of a coupling-semi-trailer system by the Primrose Group.

Pitt Trailers at Wigan

• Pitt Trailers Ltd., recently acquired by the Central Wagon Group, is now fully operational at Wigan. following its transfer from Andover, Hants.

Capacity at Wigan is 50 trailers a week-2+ times that at Andover prior to acquisition. Designs are ready for the larger capacity trailers which will be needed when the MoT's proposed new regulations come into force.

• Mobil Oil Co. Ltd, has been awarded the contract for development of a petrol filling station with limited catering facilities at Burton on the Carnforth-Fa deton section of the Lancaster-Penrith Motorway 1M6). This is the first time that the company has acted as an operator in the field of service area business in this country.

• The Stacatruc division of Clark Equipment Ltd, has taken delivery of two new 15-ton capacity low-loader units to transport Clarklift fork-lift trucks around the country on demonstration tours. Each unit, painted in the Clark livery of green, black and white, consists of an AEC Mercury and Carrimore six-wheel trailer.
