• Ford is recalling 20,000 Escort vans built between May 1987 and March 1988, because of a potentially dangerous fault affecting the braking system.
The wheel arch liners on these vehicles are becoming detached and chafing against the brake hose. In the even a split developing in the hos the Escort has diagonally-sp brake hydraulics so that son braking would still remain.
The remedial work will ta around an hour, and owners affected vehicles will be con tacted by their local dealers.
