Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FORD in the USA has been running an experimental, single cylinder, uncooled direct injection diesel engine.

It reports a four to seven per cent fuel economy improvement over a baseline conventionally water-cooled engine.

This was revealed in a paper presented at last month's Institution of Mechanical Engineers' conference in London on fuel efficient power trains and vehicles.

The cylinder head and valves of the experimental Ford engine are coated with a ceramic material; it has an insulated, steel-topped piston and the upper part of the cylinder liner is sleeved with partly stabilised zirconia.
