ON the occasion of a Conference, held at Olympia on Thursday last, organized by the Municipal Tramways and Transport Association, Messrs. P. J. Baker and Clement Jackson, of• Southampton, and Plymouth. Corporation Transport Departments, respectively, read a paper entitled "Design from the Municipal Operators' Point of 'View." It was a frankly expressed, criticism, which dealt with sueh topics -as excessive fuel and oil-consumption rates, overheating, starter troubles, the provision of inadequate clutch and brake facings, noisy transmissions, harsh suspension, and the lack of standardization in control disposition. These points were dealt with in a fairly comprehensive manner.
