Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

in quantity

THE Saab-Scania group has decided to put its automatic commercial vehicle gearbox. into series production in mid-1975. The gearbox, whose development has been accelerated by a Swedish army contract calling for allautomatic trucks, was announced as an option some time ago.

The version chosen for production is similar to the military one, though the latter is adapted for fourwheel drive. In both versions the output drive is split by a differential immediately behind the engine, the sun gear driving the input "pump" of an hydraulic torque converter and the ring gear driving mechanically. Planetary gear sets (two gears and four clutches) provide three automatic forward speeds and one reverse. But the mechanical hydraulic coupling arrangement enables six forward speeds and two reverse to be obtained.
