Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

GROWING in demand for freight space on Belfast Car Ferries' Liverpool-Belfast route has led the company into participating in the planned reopening of the Heysham-Belfast route this week.

A new joint company, Belfast Freight Ferries, has been formed by BCF and London-based stevedoring specialist Scruttons, with BCF Providing the management and sales back-up and Scruttons the financial support.

Scruttons provides stevedoring services in Belfast.

A Swedish-owned ferry, the Stena Sailer, has been chartered from Steve Line and will have accommodation for up to 40 12m trailers and cabins for 12 drivers. The 17 knot vessel will complete each crossing in nine hours.

Sailings are on Mondays to Saturdays, leaving Belfast's Donegall Quay at 9pm and leaving Heysham at 9arn. Operators seeking information should contact Alan Peacock of BCF on 0232 231880.

A spokesman for the company said BCF would continue to carry accompanied freight on the Liverpool service, but the new route would cater for a demand for freight traffic which, otherwise, must go by the Stranraer-Larne crossings.

A labour dispute has delayed its introduction.
