A JOINT inquiry into road haulage is to be carried out by the Foster Committee on Operators' Licensing and the Prices Commission to avoid duplication of information.
Three versions of a questionnaire have been compiled to suit different sizes of operation. More information is requested from the bigger operators. _ The smallest number of firms will be polled consistent with getting a representative sample of the industry.
Initially Prices Commission regional staff will telephone selected hauliers to get a few basic facts and will follow up with a questionnaire and a visit, if requested.
