Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

APPLICABLE to engines of not less than 819 c.c. or commercial vehicles of not more than 10 cwt. load capacity, an air-injection reactor system is now available in this country which reduces the amount of carbon monoxide and unburned fuel discharged from the exhaust pipe.

Theequipment is produced and supplied by the AC-Delco division of General Motors Ltd., Dunstable, and will be fitted to a number of 1968 export models of British and Continental cars and commercial vehicles.

A vane type pump, belt driven from the engine crankshaft, supplies air under pressure to individual nozzles in each exhaust port close to the exhaust valve and thus provides the extra air required to burn carbon monoxide and excess fuel.

It is normally necessary to fit an air-bleed or gulp valve to the intake to supply extra air when the vehicle overruns the engine. This obviates explosions in the exhaust.
