Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Thousands of Renault Kangoos, Trafics and Extras and Vauxhall Arenas are being recalled because of potentially faulty brakes.

Power-assisted braking progressively fades in certain circumstances, says Renault, because of a fault in the vacuum pump on some naturally aspirated (F8Q) diesel units built between April 1997 and December 1998. Renault says the fault could affect as many as 18,000 of its units.

Dealers for Renault and Vauxhall, which markets a rebadged Trafic as the Arena, will test vehicles and carry out any necessary work free of charge.

Both companies are alerting owners by post and Renee is running a hotline with more information on (0800) 3202403.
