Moore — (CM Nov 5-11.) I fully endorse his plea for reprints of your early special and show numbers. There does seem to be a lot of interest around now for anything old. Look at the prices that old vehicles fetch at these high class auctions. Then there are the magazines that cover any vehicle with a few years behind it. Ian Allan has a host: Vintage Commercial Vehicle, Vintage Roadscene — to name just two.

When you think of the goldmine that must lay in your archives, it seems a pity to both deprive the yongsters of its benefits and at the same time, stir the memories of us older ones.

A few years ago Aeroplane Monthly which shares your building, published a compilation of reports on early De Havilland aeroplanes from its files. I think they were soon snapped up — I couldn't wait for my copy.

Another reason for writing is that Mr Moore's letter brought to light, for me at least, that it is possible to obtain copies of individual articles from old issues.

My interest is in Gilfords mainly, those used by Hillmans Coaches in particular. The main talking point at the 1931 Commercial Motor Show was the revolutionary front-wheel drive double deck Gifford.

I have a fancy to make a small model of this vehicle so could do with pictures of it to make this possible. I'd also like a road test of the 1680TWycombe body, and the AS6Duple body. I cannot give you the issue numbers but the 1680T came out in 1929 and the AS6 in 1930.
