Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Freight Transport Association Yearbook 1979 is published by the FTA, Hermes House, St John's Road, Tunbridge Wells, Kent, TN4 9UZ, and issued free to members; extra copies £6 each.

LEGISLATION changes mean that as well as the many detailed amendments throughout the book, the sections on drivers' hours, records and tachographs (including information on the

phasing-in programme), admission to the occupation, and industrial relations have been completely rewritten.

In addition the lighting section has been recast to simply further this complex area of legislation.

The FTA Yearbook concentrates on explaining in plain language the law surrounding the operation of goods vehicles.

The many changes of detail which took place during 1978 mean that it is now unwise to rely on previous editions, the FTA advises.

A particularly useful section for operators is a legislation calendar at the back.

The book includes sections under 55 headings — for example, Weight dimensions and plating (six pages); Conditions of carriage by land (two pages); Conditions of carriage by land (two pages); Rebated fuel and log (twe pages): and Value-added tax

(one page). —J.F.D.
