SCOTTISH Bus Group fare: are to go up 7% per cent oi average later this month bu the Traffic Commissioners granting the group's applica tion for an increase last weel+ Issued a firm warning.
Chairman of the Commis sioners, J. Dalgety, said at th end of the public hearing i Edinburgh, that when the bu group had previously applie to increase fares, they had sai they were prepared to mak services better.
The increased rates corn into effect on August 19. Th hearing had earlier heard tiu the bus group were iosin £100,000 a week and that eve if the application were to t granted, they would still mal4 a £700,000 loss by the end the year. The increase affec the bus group's seven con panies in Scotland.
