Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

NEW COMMERCIAL VEHICLE registrations hit a new peak of 19,422 for commercial vehicles in July — 11 per cent up on the same month last year. But imports were also marginally up, to 22 per cent of the market, according to figures issued by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders.

DAF showed the biggest increase of the importers with its figures soaring from just 78 vehicles in July 1978 to 142 in July this year — but all importers except Magirus Deutz showed an increase.

The Magirus figure sank from 112 sales in July last year to 84 this.

Total British vehicle sales went up by 450 in the month. Biggest increase was shown by Bedford whose sales rose from 896 in July last year to 1022 last month — but all British makers recorded an increase in sales, however marginal.

In the lighter section of the market, Bedford again pushed its new registrations up from 24,483 in the first seven months of the year to 33,087 vehicles in the first seven months of 1979.

And Ford sales, overall, rose from 43,094 to 50,023 over the first seven months of this year compared with the same period last year.

Of the smaller makers, Seddon Atkinson increased its sales from 2064 to 2638 in the first seven months and Foden sales rose by 106 vehicles to 869 over the same period.

Leyland sales rose from 860 in July 1978 to 948 in July this year and, over the sevenmonth period, they rose from 7965 to 8127 over the seven months to July 1979.
