• Drivers are being offered a new hairdressing service operating from a bus at the South Mimms service station.
Trading as the Hair Bus Company, mobile hairdresser William Kawczynski modelled the idea on the buses used by film studios for hair and makeup sessions.
Kawczynski says scores of drivers stop off for a "quick wash and brush-up". Some of them even call from their
cabs for an appointment as they drive up the motorway.
"Some days I don't stop, it's so busy," says Kawczynski. "80% of my customers are lorry drivers. They are mainly men but I get a few women." Kawczynski's bus is open daily from 08:00hrs to 18:00hrs. Tel: 01 707 662271.
