Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

DEL1VERY is now well advanced of the first of 192 vehicles with bodywork by Saunders-Roe (Anglesey), Ltd., ordered by Auckland Transport Board. Of these, 140 are 44-seaters, Ninety are based on Daimler Freeline chassis, of which one was exhibited at the Commercial Motor Show, last year, and the remaining 50 on Leyland Royal Tiger chassis. Some of these vehicles are already in service in Auckland, where

99 of them are being built tip from the . knocked-down units dispatched from this country.

When the motorbus order has been completed, work will begin on the construction of 40 high-capacity trolleybus bodies to be mounted on WILT ETB.1 chassis. These will provide accommodation for 54 seated and Up to 36 standing passengers, and will be similar in appearance to the 140 motorbuses. In addition to these stage-service vehicles, Auckland has ordered 12 Bedford 35-seaters with Saunders-Roe Sam bodywork. All but one of the Bedfords will be shipped in unit knocked-down form, packed in crates.

Although the Rivaloy bodies for the Daimler and Leyland 44-seaters vary slightly because of the different positions of the outriggers on the chassis, they are almost completely interchangeable. The roofs and rear-end units are identical, and the side frames are generally similar, slight variations in the outrigger positions being accommodated by angle brackets.

Thus, the location of the body mountings is unchanged. The front ends are almost identical, detail differences being called for by the different driving positions. Both types of vehicle have open near-side luggage compartments which will also accommodate folding prams.

Electro-hydraulic door gear made by Automotive Products, Ltd., is employed on the Daimler buses, and compressed-air gear produced by G. D. Peters, Ltd., is found on the Leylands. Peters gear will also be used on the trolleybuses, which will, however, have sliding, instead of jack-knife, doors.

The general lines of the trolIeybuses will follow those of the motorbuses, with the entrance and exit ahead of the front and rear axles respectively. A traction interlock will be fitted to prevent the vehicles from moving off with the rear door open.
