Teignmouth U.D.C. has deferred the recommendation to purchase a motor fire-engine.

We regret an error in a paragraph, re the L.G.O. service to ,Westerharn Hill, last week. The distance of 42 miles refers to the return journey from London, via Bromley. The distance from Bromley to Westerha,m Hill is only Si miles, and the single fare 6d.

The York House Hotel, Bath, has contracted for the service of a handsome single 4-deck hotel bus, with 18 h.p. Dennis chassis. The vehicle is supplied by the Bath branch of the Bristol Tramways and Carriage Co., Ltd., and the body was built at the Bristol works of that company.

The Kidderminster Town Council will, on. Wednesday next, further consider proposals for the establishment of a motorbus service, between Kidderminster and Bewdley, on the submission of the Kidderminster and District Electric Lighting and Traction Co., Ltd., and Aliens, Ltd., of Westminster.

A New Registration.

The Seottish General Transport Co., Ltd., with an authorized capital of £250,000 in 21 shares, and with its offices at 1, Kingsway, W.C., to carry on the business of manufacturers of and dealers in motor omnibuses, wagons and motor vehicles of all kinds. The profits of the Birmingham Small Arms Co., Ltd., for the year ended the 31st July last, were £187,921. The contribution of the Daimler undertaking to the profits of the Birmingham Small Arms Co., Ltd., amounted to £128,000. Thin latter sum has been obtained on a net capital in the books of the company, in respect of the Daimler undertaking, of only 2351,000. Sir Hallewell Rogers, chairman of the company, presiding at the annual general meeting on the 8th inst., made special mention of the conclusion of satisfactory arrangements "which, whilst enabling the commercial motor branch of the business still to progress, are not likely to make for some years any further demands upon the capital resources of this company." He proceeded to announce the arrangements for a working alliance between the Daimler Co., and the Associated Equipment Co., whereby omnibuses and certain sizes of commercial vehicles will be made at the Walthamstow factory of the latter company. No details of the arrangements were given. The receipts of the Natio-nal Steam Car Co., Ltd., for the week ended 7th October, 1913, were 23702. This shows an. increase of £1706 over the corresponding period of 1912.

The receipts of the Tramways (M.E.T.) Omnibus Co., Ltd., for the week ended 4th October, 1913, were 29610, and for the Gearless Omnibus Co., Ltd., 2647. These show a decrease of £71 and an increase of 22 respectively as against the previous week.

If the proposed new motorbus service, to connect Macclesfield, Chelford, and Knutsford, with a, possible extension to Warrington, is sanctioned and completed, Warrington and Macclesfield people will be able to get to the attractive Cheshire town of Knutsford without having first of all to go to Manchester, which is now the ease by rail connection.

Derby Town Council has been. discussing the purchase of a motor fire-engine, in view of certain difficulties connected with the horsing of the brigade. The Council is under a legal obligation, so the Town Clerk has informed its members, to send the brigade outside the Borough, and in these circumstances, having regard to the slowness of horses, it. would appear tfhat the early purchase of a motor cannot be avoided.

Cannock 13.D.C. is about to take the motorizing of its fire brigade into consideration.

Bradford has decided to fit rubber tires to the steam wagons in the service of its Cleansing Department.

The Belgian military authorities in Antwerp have ordered three motor ambulances from M. A. Bovy of Brussels.

Westminster Public Health Committee is about to ask tenders for a motor furnished with two interchangeable van bodies.

The Barnet-St. Albans service has been reduced to winter frequency. Its success will undoubtedly encourage building operations in and around Routh Minims.

The Police department. of the Glasgow Corporation requires tenders for four police motor patrol wagons. These must be lodged on or before the 27th inst. Particulars and forms of offer may be had on application to the Town Clerk, City Chambers, Glasgow.

L.G.B. and Loans.

Colne U.D.C. is applying to borrow 25285 for recreation and fire brigade purposes ; Merton U.D.C. wants £1600 for a new firestation ; Barnet U.D.C. hopes to be allowed to spend another 2200 on its fire-station stables, but we hope it will not do anything so archaic, West Bridgford U.D.C.

The five Dennis chassis, the order for which, by the West Bridgford U.D.C., we reported last week, will be fitted with Dodson double-deck bodies and Vandervell electric lighting. The contract for the Council's garage has been let to Messrs. Gilbert and Hall.
