Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Edinburgh city operator Lothian Region Transport has ordered a further 36 Leyland Olympians for 1990. The 580strong Lothian fleet already ha 200 Olympians, and the buses on order will have Alexander bodies, similar to buses delivered in 1988/89.

The new Olympians, costing 292,000 each, will have Cummins engines and 2F gearboxes. Delivery will start in April.

Lothian, which has expandet beyond the Edinburgh city boundaries since deregualtion, has been steadily upgrading its fleet in recent years, in advance of expected privatisation Lothian is also understood h be in the market for new single-deck buses. It presently has 20 Leyland Nationals and 2• number of 1975 Leopards, and has so far tested Scania N113/ Alexander and Daf SB220/ Optare Delta demonstrators.
