• Decision has been reserved on a bid for a new licence by Next Day Parcels Express of Eastriggs following objections by Annandale and Eskdale District Council and three local residents.
The company had applied to Scottish Deputy Licensing Authority Alex Brand for a national licence for 10 vehicles and two trailers based at Lowtherton Garage, Annan Road.
The council and the residents objected to the noise of vehicle maintenance by the former occupiers, Link Express. Evidence of noise readings taken from two of the residents' houses was given by an environmental health officer.
The company pointed out that the site had planning permission for use as a haulage base.
