• As well as encouraging all its drivers to enter for the national Lorry Driver of the Year competition, sponsored by Commercial Motor (and offering its own NCL prize of 50 gns to any of its drivers who wins the coveted national title), National Carriers Ltd. is starting its own —Top DriverContest.
It is open to all NCL drivers and carries a prize of 25 gns, as well as smaller awards. There will be three classes for ernes and one for rigids. Local heats will be followed by seven area finals and a national final.
The contest involves vehicle appearance, knowledge of driving law, and manoeuvring tests.
