• First private employer within the enclosed London docks to be approved as an Inland Clearance Depot — loading and unloading containers with its own dock labour force— Fred Olsen of Millwall Dock began operations on Monday.
M1 Southern extension
• Work will begin soon on extending M1 from its present southern termination at Fiveways Corner to the North Circular Road near Staples Corner in the London Borough of Barnet. The extension will relieve the Al, A41 and AS trunk roads through Hendon, which at present act as feeders for traffic to and from MI.
The new section should be open to traffic by mid-1975 when the Staples Corner Interchange will be completed.
