F. ROAD Haulage Association this week joined forces with the RAC and the Royal Scottish Automobile Club to petition against Dartford Tunnel Bill in the House of Commons.
r line with its policy to abolish olls the RHA is objecting parany strongly to the clause in Bill which permits Essex and it County Councils to raise tolls at will. Both councils e already applied for an allnd increase of the tolls.
he RHA expects support from Greater London Council and h bodies believe that the coniation of toll collection at the tford Tunnel will be even re disadvantageous when the don orbital M25 (which uses tunnel) is completed.
he GLC fears that delays sed by toll collection will ictively act as a deterrent for fic using the M25 and divert it GLC roads. The Freight Transport Association wholeheartedly supports the petition although is not a party to it.
