NEW regulations in effect in Sweden intensify enforcement of vehicle licensing and taxation laws. The police and road traffic examiners have been given the power — and screwdrivers! — to physically remove registration plates not showing valid tax stickers. Use of a commercial vehicle after removal of the number plate renders the owner liable to a prison sentence of not more than six months.
